General information

About Blue Manta

Blue Manta is a 34-metre steel-hulled liveaboard built in 2014 and refitted for Indonesia's strongest currents. Eight en-suite cabins host up to 16 divers, looked after by a crew of ten that includes PADI-instructor guides. A dedicated dive deck, camera charging and rinse station, shaded sun deck and indoor saloon keep long days underwater comfortable from first light to night dive.

Expedition FAQ

A minimum of PADI Open Water Diver (or equivalent) is required. Advanced Open Water is recommended for all current-prone sites such as Castle Rock and Crystal Rock. Please bring your certification card.

Komodo is known for powerful tidal currents. Most dive sites rate from moderate to strong. Your divemaster will always brief the conditions before entry and provide drift-dive positioning for every site.

Yes, but we strongly recommend completing a refresher course in Labuan Bajo before boarding. Our crew can arrange this on request. All guests complete a check-out dive on Day 1 regardless of experience level.

Full refund 60+ days before departure. 50% refund 30–59 days before. No refund within 30 days. We strongly recommend travel insurance covering trip cancellation.

Nitrox (EAN 32%) is included for all certified Nitrox divers at no extra charge. 12L aluminium tanks are standard. 15L steel tanks available on request (subject to availability).

Oceanic and reef mantas, whitetip and blacktip reef sharks, giant trevally, Napoleon wrasse, Komodo dragons on shore, nudibranchs at Cannibal Rock, and large schools of fusiliers and anthias at every site.

    Exceptional

    Mantas within arm's reach

Manta Alley was everything I hoped for and more. We saw eight mantas on our first dive β€” all circling the cleaning station within arm's reach. The crew's positioning was flawless.

    Diving and dragons both delivered

Incredible boat, incredible crew. The Komodo dragon shore excursion was a highlight I didn't expect to love as much as the diving. Castle Rock lived up to every dive forum description.

    Very good

    Exceptional diving, book a Superior

Exceptional diving, slightly cramped cabins on a full boat. Guides knew every site intimately and kept everyone safe in the stronger currents. Would go again in a Superior cabin.

    Best of four liveaboards

My fourth liveaboard and the best by some margin. The Cannibal Rock dive at dusk was like nothing I've ever seen. The Nitrox inclusion makes a real difference over a 7-night trip.

    Exceptional

    Faultless from start to finish

Everything ran like clockwork β€” briefings, boat logistics, dive timing. The crew anticipated what you needed before you asked. I'd book again without a second thought.
